A complete walkthrough of setting up your profile and getting your first job matches.

Setting Up Your Profile

Step 1: Register

Start by typing /register in any Discord server where the bot is installed, or in a DM with the bot.

This creates your account and sets up your first profile. You can have up to 3 profiles for different job searches.

Step 2: Add Your Resume

Use /resume to add your professional details:

  • Hard Skills - Technical abilities (Python, Machine Learning, etc.)
  • Soft Skills - Communication, leadership, problem-solving
  • Tools - Specific technologies (Docker, AWS, Git)
  • Education - Degrees, certifications
  • Experience - Work history summary

Step 3: Set Preferences

Use /preferences to configure:

  • Job Title - What role are you looking for?
  • Locations - Where do you want to work?
  • Work Mode - Remote, hybrid, or onsite
  • Work Level - Trainee to Principal+
  • Minimum Salary - Your salary floor

Understanding Match Scores

Each job match comes with a percentage score. Here's how it works:

90%+ Excellent Match

Strong alignment across most dimensions. Worth applying immediately.

70-89% Good Match

Solid fit with room for growth. Review the requirements carefully.

50-69% Partial Match

Some skills align. Could be a stretch role or learning opportunity.

<50% Low Match

Significant gaps. Consider updating your profile or preferences.

Using Multiple Profiles

You can maintain up to 3 different profiles for different job searches:

1

Profile 1: Data Scientist

Focus on ML/AI roles, Python, research positions

2

Profile 2: ML Engineer

Focus on production ML, cloud infrastructure, deployment

3

Profile 3: Tech Lead

Focus on leadership roles, architecture, team management

Switch between profiles using /switch 1, /switch 2, or /switch 3.

Tips for Better Matches

  • Be specific with skills

Instead of "programming", list specific languages like "Python, TypeScript, Go"

  • Include tools you use daily

Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Terraform, etc. - these matter for matching

  • Update regularly

As you learn new skills, add them to your profile for better matches

  • Use all profile slots

If you're open to different roles, create profiles for each type
